About the Role

The school is seeking a full-time Design / Materials Technology Teacher to commence in Term 1, 2027. The teaching load will primarily involve Materials Technology across Years 7–10, with a likely Woodwork focus. This is an ongoing opportunity suited to a teacher who enjoys practical, hands-on learning and can confidently manage students within a workshop environment.

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned Materials Technology programs across Years 7–10, with a focus on Woodwork.

  • Maintain high standards of student safeguarding, wellbeing and workshop safety.

  • Develop students’ practical skills, design thinking, problem-solving and confidence using relevant tools and materials.

  • Communicate effectively with students, families and colleagues regarding learning, assessment and student progress.

  • Collaborate with Technology colleagues and contribute positively to faculty initiatives and the wider Catholic school community.

Requirements

  • Current VIT registration or eligibility for registration

  • Relevant secondary teaching qualifications

  • Experience teaching Materials Technology, Woodwork and/or related Design Technology subjects

  • Strong understanding of safe workshop practices

  • Willingness to support and uphold the College’s Catholic values and ethos

  • Full Australian working rights

  • Two professional referees and completion of HARKE’s safeguarding onboarding
