About the School

HARKE has partnered with an independent alternative education provider in Melbourne's south-east that specialises in supporting students who benefit from flexible and personalised learning pathways. The school focuses on re-engaging young people through relationship-based teaching, individualised learning plans, and hands-on educational experiences. Small class sizes of approximately 8-15 students allow educators to build meaningful connections and provide tailored support that helps students achieve success both academically and personally.

Students learn through customised programs designed around their strengths, interests, and future goals. The school partners with industry to provide practical learning experiences and vocational pathways, creating meaningful connections between education and future employment. With a strong focus on inclusion, wellbeing, and student agency, the school provides an environment where both students and staff can thrive.

About the Role

Due to continued growth and the launch of a new virtual learning program, the school is seeking a Virtual Classroom Teacher to facilitate a dedicated online classroom. Based from either the Pakenham or Dandenong campus, this full-time position combines relationship-focused teaching with innovative online learning delivery.

The successful teacher will work with a small group of students across a range of secondary year levels who require a flexible and highly personalised educational setting. Educators operate within a generalist teaching model, delivering learning across multiple curriculum areas while adapting programs to individual student needs and learning plans.

Strong ICT capability is essential for success in this role. The successful candidate must be confident operating online learning platforms, managing virtual classrooms, troubleshooting basic technology issues, and supporting students to engage effectively in a digital environment. This role is ideal for an educator who enjoys leveraging technology to create engaging learning experiences while building strong relationships that support student wellbeing, attendance, and achievement.

  • Strong behaviour management and relationship-building skills
  • Understanding of trauma-informed practice or willingness to develop expertise in this area
  • Current Victorian driver's licence
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Two referees and completion of HARKE safeguarding onboarding
