About the School

HARKE has partnered with a school in the ACT seeking a SOSE Teacher to join its secondary teaching team from Term 1, 2027. The position provides an opportunity to teach across Years 7–12, with a particular focus on senior Economics. This ongoing role would suit a teacher with strong SOSE subject knowledge who is particularly confident teaching Economics at Years 11–12.

About the Position

This full-time, ongoing position will involve teaching SOSE across Years 7–12, with the teaching load primarily focused on Economics across Years 11–12. The successful teacher will also contribute to junior and middle secondary SOSE classes as part of their wider timetable.

The school is seeking a teacher who can confidently deliver senior Economics, support students through assessment requirements and connect economic theory with contemporary issues. Relocation assistance of up to $3,000 may be available for a suitable teacher relocating for the position; however, this is currently subject to confirmation by the school.

Skills and Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver SOSE across Years 7–12, with a particular focus on senior Economics in Years 11–12.
• Maintain high standards of student safeguarding, wellbeing and classroom practice.
• Communicate clearly with students, families and colleagues regarding learning, assessment and academic progress.
• Collaborate with SOSE colleagues on curriculum planning, assessment, moderation and senior secondary programs.
• Provide clear classroom leadership and support senior students to develop their economic knowledge, analytical skills and understanding of contemporary economic issues.

Requirements

Economics: Candidates must have strong Economics subject knowledge and be confident teaching Economics across Years 11–12.

SOSE: Candidates must be comfortable teaching broader SOSE classes across Years 7–12 as part of the teaching load.

Registration: Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain registration with the ACT Teacher Quality Institute (TQI).

Work Rights: Full Australian working rights are essential for this role.

Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE's onboarding process to meet safeguarding requirements.
