English and/or Science Teacher | Full-time or Part-time

Type of School: Catholic Boys’ Secondary College
Location: Melbourne’s South-East
Contract Type: Full-time or part-time
Start: Term 1, 2027
Salary Range:$80,000–$118,000 plus super*

About the School

HARKE has partnered with a well-established Catholic boys’ secondary college in Melbourne’s south-east. The College offers a supportive and collaborative environment with a strong focus on student learning, wellbeing and positive relationships.

About the Role

The College has flexibility around how this vacancy is filled and is open to full-time or part-time teachers.

Ideally, the school would appoint one full-time teacher who can teach a combination of English and Science. However, they recognise this is an uncommon teaching combination and are equally happy to split the position between two part-time teachers.

Applications are therefore welcomed from:

  • English & Science teachers seeking a full-time position

  • English teachers seeking a part-time position

  • Science teachers seeking a part-time position

The Science component is Years 7–10. The exact English year levels and part-time timetables are still being finalised and can be discussed with suitable candidates.

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Plan and deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned English and/or Science lessons.

  • Confidently teach within your relevant subject area.

  • For Science applicants, teach Science across Years 7–10.

  • Create an engaging, inclusive and well-managed learning environment.

  • Differentiate teaching to support students with a range of abilities and learning needs.

  • Assess student progress and provide meaningful feedback.

  • Maintain high standards of student safeguarding and wellbeing.

  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute positively to the wider College community.

Requirements

  • Current VIT registration or eligibility to obtain VIT

  • Relevant secondary teaching qualifications

  • Ability to teach English, Science, or a combination of both

  • Strong classroom management and communication skills

  • Willingness to support and uphold the Catholic ethos and values of the College

  • Full Australian working rights

  • Two professional referees and completion of HARKE’s safeguarding onboarding
