About the School
HARKE has partnered with a P–12 school in remote NT (Top End) dedicated to strengthening literacy outcomes through structured, evidence-based teaching. The school supports multilingual learners and offers a collaborative environment where teachers work across year levels to improve literacy progress. Consistent routines, community engagement and a clear instructional approach underpin the school’s work.
This Literacy Intervention Teacher role is a classroom teacher designation without a single home class, working across P–12 to deliver targeted literacy support. It suits a strong Primary-trained teacher with expertise in literacy and EAL/D, ideally with experience teaching Year 3 and above and able to apply primary literacy strategies to both primary and secondary learners. The role focuses on small-group withdrawal sessions, targeted literacy instruction and delivering selected whole-class literacy lessons to support release time.
Intervention groups commence in Week 5 of Term 1. During the first four weeks, the teacher will work across a higher number of classes to build relationships, collect baseline literacy data and support the home-visits program. The role requires clear routines, simple data systems from Day 1 and strong relationship-building across the school.
