About the RoleThe school is seeking a caring, skilled, and dedicated Learning Support Officer to support students' learning, wellbeing, and engagement within an inclusive secondary school environment.
Working closely with classroom teachers and the Learning Diversity team, the successful applicant will provide targeted support to students with diverse learning, behavioural, communication, and social-emotional needs. This includes working with students individually and in small groups, assisting with intervention programs, supporting personalised learning plans, and helping students access the curriculum successfully.
This ongoing position is school-term only, with paid school holidays in accordance with the applicable Catholic education agreement.
Skills and Responsibilities- Support students individually and in small groups to enhance learning, engagement, and independence
- Assist with literacy and numeracy intervention programs and personalised learning plans
- Work collaboratively with teachers and Learning Diversity staff to implement student support strategies
- Support students with additional learning needs, including autism spectrum disorder, developmental language disorder, and other diverse learning profiles
- Prepare learning resources and classroom materials to support student learning
- Assist with excursions, camps, school events, and yard supervision as required
- Utilise Google Classroom and other digital learning platforms effectively
- Maintain accurate records and uphold confidentiality at all times
- Certificate III in Education Support or higher qualification
- Experience supporting children or young people with additional learning needs
- Knowledge of literacy and numeracy intervention programs highly regarded
- Understanding of neuro-affirming and inclusive education practices
- Current Working with Children Check
- Current National Police Check
- Current First Aid and CPR Certificate (or willingness to obtain)
- Full Australian working rights
- Two referees and completion of HARKE safeguarding onboarding
