About the Position
This leadership role involves overseeing the Italian program within the Languages Learning Area. The Head of Department – Italian is responsible for leading curriculum, assessment, and pedagogy, while supporting a Languages team of approximately 5–7 staff members. The position includes a teaching component, with the exact load to be confirmed, and works closely with senior leaders to ensure alignment with curriculum requirements and school improvement priorities.
Skills and Responsibilities

Lead and coordinate curriculum, assessment, and teaching practices across the Italian program

Support, mentor, and performance-manage members of the Languages team

Use student learning data to inform curriculum planning and improvement strategies

Maintain student wellbeing and safeguarding in line with school policies

Contribute to whole-school initiatives and collaborative leadership forums
Requirements

Registration with, or eligibility for, the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT)

Accreditation to Teach or Lead in a Catholic School, or willingness to work towards accreditation
