About the Position

The college is seeking an engaging Japanese Teacher to commence in Term 2, 2026. This full-time, ongoing position involves teaching Japanese across junior secondary year levels, with elective opportunities available in later years. The successful candidate will foster curiosity and confidence in language learning through interactive lessons focused on communication, cultural understanding, and practical language application.

Students engage in learning experiences covering listening, speaking, reading, and writing, while exploring Japanese culture through activities including calligraphy, origami, festivals, food, travel, and contemporary media. The program also supports competency development in Hiragana, Katakana, and introductory Kanji.

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Teach Japanese across Years 7-9 using engaging and curriculum-aligned learning experiences
  • Develop students’ communication skills across speaking, listening, reading, and writing
  • Incorporate Japanese cultural studies through practical and interactive classroom activities
  • Support student wellbeing and participation through inclusive classroom practices
  • Collaborate with colleagues and contribute to the wider co-curricular life of the school

Requirements

  • Registration with or eligibility for VIT registration
  • Full Australian working rights
  • Two current referees and completion of HARKE’s safeguarding onboarding process
