About the Position
This fixed-term opportunity for Term 1, 2026 involves teaching Italian to secondary students across junior and/or middle years (specific year levels confirmed with the successful candidate). The role suits a teacher who can deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned language lessons, build confidence in student communication skills, and contribute to a positive, orderly classroom environment. The successful candidate will join a supportive Languages team and contribute to co-curricular or cultural learning opportunities where relevant.

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Deliver Italian lessons aligned to the Victorian Curriculum, using varied strategies to support language acquisition and student engagement.

  • Maintain a safe and supportive classroom, implementing the school’s safeguarding, wellbeing, and behaviour expectations.

  • Communicate clearly with students, families, and colleagues to support learning progress and positive relationships.

  • Collaborate with the Languages faculty to plan, assess, and moderate student learning, contributing to shared resources and improvement.

  • Demonstrate professional responsibility through preparation, feedback, reporting, and participation in school community activities.

Requirements

  • Registration: Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).

  • Work Rights: Full working rights in Australia are essential for this role.

  • Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE’s onboarding process to meet safeguarding requirements.
