About the Position
This full-time position combines classroom teaching within the successful applicant’s specialist area with a significant pastoral leadership responsibility as Head of Year. With a 0.5 time release for leadership duties and a 0.5 teaching load, this role is suited to an experienced teacher who brings a calm, relational approach and a genuine commitment to student wellbeing. The Head of Year will oversee the academic progress, engagement and personal development of a designated year level, working closely with students, families and staff to ensure a consistent and proactive pastoral framework.
The head of year leadership tenure is fixed-term until 31 December 2026, with an ongoing substantive teaching position attached.
Skills and Responsibilities

Deliver engaging, curriculum-aligned teaching within the nominated specialist area across Years 7–12.

Lead the wellbeing, engagement and pastoral care of a designated year level, ensuring consistent and proactive student support.

Uphold safeguarding, child safety and student welfare policies, promoting a safe and inclusive learning environment.

Communicate effectively with students, families and colleagues, fostering respectful and collaborative relationships.

Contribute to whole-school leadership initiatives, modelling professionalism and supporting a positive staff culture.
Requirements

Registration: Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).

Work Rights: Full working rights in Australia are essential for this role.
