About the Position

The school is seeking an experienced educator to join its leadership team as Head of Faculty – English & Humanities , commencing in 2027.

Reporting to the Head of Teaching and Learning, this position will provide leadership across the English and Humanities faculty, with responsibility for maintaining strong curriculum delivery, assessment practices and academic standards across Years 7–12.

The successful candidate will be an experienced teacher and established leader who can support staff, strengthen teaching practice and contribute to the ongoing development of the faculty. Candidates must demonstrate an active Christian faith , alignment with the school’s Lutheran ethos and significant previous leadership experience.

Skills and Responsibilities
  • Lead curriculum, teaching, assessment and academic standards across English and Humanities.

  • Support student safeguarding, wellbeing and the continued development of a strong Child Safe culture.

  • Build positive and constructive relationships with students, staff, families and the wider school community.

  • Collaborate with the Head of Teaching and Learning and faculty staff to strengthen curriculum delivery and professional practice.

  • Provide clear faculty leadership while contributing to the wider strategic and co-curricular life of the College.

Who Should Apply

This opportunity would suit a teacher who:

  • Has demonstrated leadership experience within English, Humanities or a broader curriculum leadership role.

  • Has strong knowledge of Victorian and Australian curriculum requirements across Years 7–12.

  • Brings strong subject knowledge within English and/or Humanities.

  • Is reflective, collaborative and confident leading teachers across a multidisciplinary faculty.

  • Has an active Christian faith and can genuinely support the values and ethos of a Lutheran school community.

Requirements
  • Registration: Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain Victorian Institute of Teaching registration.

  • Faith Alignment: Applicants must demonstrate an active Christian faith and willingness to uphold the Lutheran ethos of the school.

  • Work Rights: Full Australian working rights are essential for this role.

  • Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE’s onboarding process to meet safeguarding requirements.
