About the PositionThis full-time contract role for Term 2 has become available due to planned leave and offers an opportunity to step into a well-established Food Technology department. The role will transition into a part-time ongoing position beyond the contract period.
The Technology Assistant – Food Tech plays a key role in ensuring the smooth operation of practical learning environments, supporting teachers and students through preparation, organisation, and maintaining high standards of safety and efficiency. This position suits a highly organised individual who thrives in a hands-on, fast-paced environment and enjoys supporting practical learning experiences.
Skills and Responsibilities

Prepare and support the delivery of Food Technology lessons, including set up, pack down, and food preparation for demonstrations and practical classes

Maintain a safe and compliant learning environment, including managing equipment, monitoring food safety, and supporting student welfare needs such as allergies

Coordinate purchasing and stock control, ensuring supplies are ordered within budget and storage areas are organised and maintained

Collaborate with teaching staff to support practical lessons, VET classes, and school events, contributing to a well-run department

Demonstrate initiative and organisation through prioritising tasks, maintaining equipment, and supporting the day-to-day leadership of the Food Technology space
Requirements
- Qualfications: Not applicable; relevant experience in a school or food preparation environment highly regarded
- Work Rights: Full working rights in Australia are essential for this role
- Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE’s onboarding process to meet safeguarding requirements
