About the Position

The school is seeking a passionate and skilled English Language Teacher to join the Senior School from Term 1, 2026. This full-time position involves teaching English Language across VCE and English in Years 7–10. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of current pedagogies, including explicit instruction, cognitive load theory, and the Science of Learning, and will be confident in applying these to deliver engaging and rigorous curriculum.

This is a unique opportunity to inspire students in developing their understanding of language, fostering critical thinking, and equipping them with the tools to achieve academic and personal success. The role also involves contributing to the broader school community, participating in co-curricular programs, and engaging collaboratively with colleagues.

Skills and Responsibilities
  • Teach English Language at VCE level and English across Years 7–10.

  • Design and deliver high-quality, explicit lessons aligned with current research-based pedagogy.

  • Develop robust curriculum resources in collaboration with colleagues.

  • Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment that promotes engagement and respect.

  • Assess student progress using varied methods and provide constructive feedback.

  • Maintain open communication with students, parents, and staff to support student outcomes.

  • Participate in co-curricular programs and contribute to the wider school community.

Requirements
  • Registration: Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain VIT registration.

  • Work Rights: Full working rights in Australia are essential for this role.

  • Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE’s onboarding process to meet safeguarding requirements.
