Salary:$92,263 – $130,996 + Super
Role: English & Humanities Teacher
Start:  Term 2, 2026
Contract: Full-Time, 12-Month Contract (until the end of Term 1, 2027)


About the Role

A leading independent co-educational school in North Queensland is seeking a passionate and skilled English & Humanities Teacher (Years 7–12) to commence in Term 2 on a 12-month contract through to the end of Term 1, 2027.

This role offers the opportunity to teach across junior and senior secondary, delivering engaging and academically rigorous programs within a well-supported and collaborative faculty environment.

The successful candidate will demonstrate a strong commitment to high-quality teaching practice, differentiation, and fostering critical thinking, literacy and analytical skills across a diverse student cohort.

Key Responsibilities

  • Teach English and Humanities across Years 7–12

  • Deliver engaging and differentiated programs aligned with the QCAA curriculum

  • Develop effective assessment and reporting practices

  • Foster literacy, analytical thinking and independent learning skills

  • Support student wellbeing and academic progress

  • Contribute to faculty planning, curriculum development and co-curricular life


Ideal Candidate

  • Qualified Secondary teacher with experience teaching English and/or Humanities (Years 7–12)

  • Strong curriculum knowledge and ability to teach senior secondary subjects

  • Ability to differentiate learning to meet a range of academic abilities

  • Strong classroom management and relational teaching skills

  • Commitment to professional growth and collaboration

  • Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration, or eligibility to obtain it


Must-Have Requirements

  • Current Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration (or eligibility to obtain)

  • Full Australian working rights

  • Willingness to undergo relevant safeguarding and child protection checks
