About the Position

An opportunity is available for an experienced Engineering and Technology educator to join the school as Head of Department - Engineering / Technology from Term 1, 2027. This ongoing leadership position combines classroom teaching with responsibility for leading the Engineering and Technology learning area. The successful candidate will oversee curriculum delivery, support and mentor teaching staff, and promote engaging, practical and contemporary learning experiences for students.

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Curriculum: Lead the planning, implementation and review of Engineering and Technology curriculum, delivering engaging theoretical and practical learning experiences.

  • Safeguarding: Maintain safe workshop and classroom environments, ensuring appropriate safeguarding and workplace health and safety practices are consistently followed.

  • Communication: Communicate effectively with students, families, colleagues and school leadership to support positive learning outcomes.

  • Collaboration: Work closely with Technology teachers and the broader leadership team to strengthen curriculum delivery, resources and teaching practice.

  • Leadership: Lead, mentor and support staff within the Engineering and Technology department while contributing to whole-school priorities and continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Registration: Candidates must hold or be eligible to obtain Queensland College of Teachers (QCT) registration.

  • Work Rights: Full working rights in Australia are required.

  • Engineering / Technology: Demonstrated experience teaching Engineering, Design Technologies or a related secondary Technology area.

  • Safeguarding: Applicants must provide current professional referees and complete HARKE Recruitment's onboarding and safeguarding requirements.
