Digital Technologies & Computer Science Teacher – Term 2 Contract Salary Range: $78,000 - $116,000 plus super Type of School: Independent School in Southeast Melbourne Contract Type: 0.7 FTE (potential to increase), fixed-term for Term 2 Start: Term 2, 2025

About the Position

This fixed-term role, covering a Head of Department on long service leave, offers the opportunity to teach a diverse range of Digital Technologies and Computer Science subjects. The successful candidate will be responsible for delivering engaging and hands-on lessons, catering to students across multiple year levels:

  • Year 7-8 Digital Technologies
  • Year 9 Design Core (potential for additional lessons)
  • Year 11 Applied Computing
  • Possible involvement in the Year 9 ‘feel-good’ class, supporting students who find school challenging, with opportunities to increase the FTE load.

This role is ideal for an educator passionate about technology and innovation, with the ability to inspire students in a collaborative and supportive school environment.

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Curriculum: Deliver engaging and curriculum-aligned lessons in Digital Technologies and Applied Computing across multiple year levels.
  • Safeguarding: Ensure the safety and well-being of students, adhering to child protection policies and school guidelines.
  • Communication: Foster strong relationships with students, parents, and colleagues, providing clear communication and support.
  • Collaboration: Work effectively within a department, contributing to shared planning and innovation in the curriculum.
  • Leadership: Provide mentorship and guidance to students, supporting those who may be disengaged and fostering a positive learning experience.

Requirements

  • Registration: Candidates must hold or be eligible for registration with the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).
  • Work Rights: Full working rights in Australia are essential.
  • Safeguarding: Applicants must provide two current referees and complete HARKE’s onboarding process to meet safeguarding requirements.
