About the Position
The College is seeking an experienced Science leader to take responsibility for the strategic and operational leadership of its Science Department.
This is suited to an educator who is already working in a comparable curriculum or faculty leadership position and has demonstrated experience leading a department, team or significant Science portfolio.
The successful candidate will oversee curriculum development and implementation, support pedagogical best practice, lead and develop Science staff, and maintain strong academic standards across the learning area.
Experience with the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) or Middle Years Programme (MYP) would be advantageous but is not essential.
Skills and Responsibilities

Lead the Science Department, including curriculum planning, implementation, assessment and continuous improvement.

Provide pedagogical leadership and support Science teachers to deliver consistent, high-quality classroom practice.

Maintain strong standards of student safeguarding, wellbeing and professional conduct across the department.

Communicate effectively with staff, students, families and senior leaders regarding curriculum, achievement and departmental priorities.

Lead, mentor and develop Science staff while contributing to broader College curriculum and strategic priorities.
Requirements

Current registration with, or eligibility for registration with, the Victorian Institute of Teaching (VIT).

Demonstrated experience teaching Science within a secondary school setting.

Current or recent experience in a comparable Science, Faculty, Domain or Curriculum Leadership position.

Demonstrated responsibility for leading a department, curriculum area and teaching team.

Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment and contemporary Science pedagogy.

IB PYP and/or MYP experience would be advantageous but is not essential.

Two professional referees and completion of HARKE's onboarding and safeguarding requirements.
