HARKE Recruitment is proud to partner with a leading independent provider of alternative education in regional NSW (Illawarra region) to appoint a passionate and holistic classroom teacher. This is a full-time, permanent role, ideal for an educator who believes in meeting students where they’re at—and helping them grow academically, socially, and emotionally.
About the Role
In this unique teaching position, you’ll work with students in Years 9–12 who don’t thrive in mainstream settings—often due to neurodiversity (e.g. ASD, ADHD), trauma, or disengagement. This is not a behavioural school but rather a purposefully designed alternative setting focused on small-group learning, wellbeing, and life-readiness.
You’ll teach across multiple subject areas (tailored to your experience), with teh ratio being 1 teacher to 8 students. You'll guide students through personalised learning plans, with the goal of building confidence, connection, and capability. The school does not deliver the HSC, focusing instead on meaningful outcomes aligned with each student’s personal learning goals.
