About the School

HARKE has partnered with an alternative education provider in Gippsland supporting secondary students who benefit from a more individualised and flexible approach to learning. The setting has a strong focus on student re-engagement, wellbeing and building positive relationships, providing teachers with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact with young people who may not have thrived in mainstream education.

About the Role

This is an ongoing two-day-per-week position working Mondays and Tuesdays, commencing in Term 4. The successful teacher will work with secondary students across Years 9–10, VCE Vocational Major and VPC, with a strong focus on student re-engagement, individual learning needs and wellbeing.

Another teacher currently covers the remaining three days of the week. There may also be opportunities to increase the teaching load in 2027 as staffing arrangements develop.

Skills and Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging and flexible learning programs across Years 9–10, VCE VM and VPC.

  • Develop and implement individualised learning approaches and IEPs that respond to students’ learning and wellbeing needs.

  • Use trauma-informed and relationship-based practice to support student engagement, confidence and participation.

  • Maintain high standards of safeguarding and student welfare while creating a safe, consistent and inclusive learning environment.

  • Collaborate with teachers, wellbeing staff and other professionals to support positive educational and personal outcomes for students.

Requirements

  • Current VIT registration or eligibility for registration

  • Relevant secondary teaching qualifications

  • Experience with alternative education, VCE VM, VPC, student re-engagement, wellbeing or trauma-informed practice would be highly regarded

  • Confidence supporting students with diverse learning, behavioural and wellbeing needs

  • Full Australian working rights

  • Two professional referees and completion of HARKE’s safeguarding onboarding
